The boundaries that separate the tablet computer from the smartphone are becoming increasingly blurred thanks to touchscreen technology and ever-improving hardware. Now it seems that electronics manufacturer ASUS are about to add more confusion to the situation, as they announce the impending release of their latest smartphone/tablet device: the PadFone.

The PadFone has been causing a stir amongst smartphone and tablet PC manufacturers of late; it promises to allow users to switch between smartphone and tablet for a “seamless experience”. In essence, the device is a top of the range touchscreen smartphone that docks into a tablet PC device; although both devices will be able to utilise a single SIM card for network connectivity on both devices.

ASUS have made some bold claims about their latest offering and have just released promotional video material on YouTube, showing potential users the enhancements which they envisage the device will grant in day to day life.

HTC announce 4G Sensation delays

Those smartphone enthusiasts who were hoping to get their hands on the impending 4G Sensation from mobile manufacturers HTC may have to wait a little bit longer than first thought…

The news comes as mobile provider T-Mobile have just recently announced the release date for HTC’s latest offering, which comes after that which was initially rumoured. This latest information comes as a minor setback to all those HTC fans, who were keen to try out the latest gadget from the increasingly-popular manufacturer.

A brief glance at the HTC Sensation 4G’s specifications quickly reveals why there are so many smartphone enthusiasts who are eager to get a hold of the device; it comes well-stocked with an impressive list of the latest features, including, a HD display (960×540), a nippy dual-core processor and a 4G connection – a list of specs that many say give it the potential to become one of HTC’s new flagship smartphones.

Design Concept: A solar powered laptop – Lifebook Leaf

The Lifebook Leaf has been designed by Americans Laura Karnath and Carl Burdick. They have participated with this design concept and won the Fujitsu Design Award for „a life with future computing”. While it has a Matrix feel to it, the laptop is actually a wonderful alternative to contemporary technology, offering a solution that dismisses regular power sources.

The Lifebook Leaf uses a single and flexible OLED touchscreen that you can flat out or fold into a notebook form. Because the exterior is covered in rubber, it is well protected against unpleasant events that lead to scratching. It’s also completely waterproof when shut. Featuring a small OLED panel on the back that shows charging data and notifications, along with a 4G module for integrating communication, 3 cameras that can shoot 3D images and allow depth sensing (for a gestural control). But the best thing about the Lifebook Leaf is that it can be charged by sunlight. It’s a beautiful way to make use of the latest technology while preserving nature.

Porsche Design has won the „Good Design Award” at the 59th edition back in 2009 and it was granted the iF Product Design Award’s highest accolade in 2010 for this P’9522 Gold Limited Edition. And only now this phone is up for sale for the ultimate Porsche fans.

The smartphone is made from aluminum plated with 5 microns of 18 carat gold casing and black mineral glass. Its gold case has a laser engraving that reads “Porsche Design P9522 Limited Edition” on the back and the edition number marker on the side of each phone, to prove its authenticity and the fact that it’s a limited edition collectible.
